Route: Guwahati-Nameri -Bomdila -Tawang -Dirang -Balipara -Kaziranga -Shillong-Cherrapunji -Guwahati (13 NTS/14 DYS)

DAY 1: Arrive Guwahati

Arrive Guwahati and transfer to your hotel.

Afternoon/Evening visit to the Kamakhya Temple, on Nilachal hill, 08 kms west of Guwahati city, is one of the most venerated shaktipeeths in India. The temple is dedicated to goddess Kamakhya an incarnation of Sati. It is on Nilachal hill, says the Shiva Purana, that the yoni or creative organ of Sati fell when Vishnu, in a bid to save the world from the Shiva’s tandava nrittya or dance of destruction, cut her dead body into 51 pieces with his suddarshan chakra. The garbhagriha deep inside the temple, marks the sacred spot and is kept covered with red silken cloth. O/n hotel.


DAY 2: GUWAHATI / NAMERI (about 220 kms/5-6 hrs.)

Morning after breakfast drive to Nameri National Park, famous for Black Headed Ibis. Arrive Nameri and transfer to your camp. After lunch enjoy rafting on Jia Borali river, fringe the border of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. O/n Camp.

DAY 3: NAMERI/ BOMDILA (about 164 kms/ 06 hrs)

After an early breakfast drive to Bomdila enroute visit Asia’s second largest Orchidarium at Tipi where one can have a quick look over 7500 orchids from a collection of about 300 species. On arrival in Bomdila, check in at your hotel for overnight. If time permits visit Bomdila Monastery.


DAY 4: BOMDILA / TAWANG (about 185 kms/ 06 hrs)

After breakfast drive to Tawang, en-route stop over at Sella Pass (13,700 ft) to enjoy the area. Arrive Tawang and transfer to your hotel. If time permits visit the local market area. Overnight in Tawang.


Day 5: TAWANG

After breakfast visit of 400 years (17th century) old Tawang Monastery which is the second largest monastery in the world after Potala Palace in Tibet. The building is about 113 feet longand 80 feet wide and houses valuable antiquities, books and manuscripts-handwritten and printed.

Later visit Tawang War Memorial, a 40 foot high multi-hued memorial, has a structure constructed in stupa design. Dedicated to the martyrs of Sino-Indo War held in 1962, this memorial is nestled among beautiful peaks, which overlooks the Tawang-Chu valley.

Rest of the day free to stroll round the streets of the town. Overnight in Tawang.


Day 6: TAWANG – DIRANG (about 123 kms/ 05 hrs)

After a leisurely breakfast drive to Dirang and check in at your hotel. Afternoon sightseeing in and around Dirang. Overnight at Dirang.


Day 7: DIRANG – BALIPARA NEAR TEZPUR– (186 kms/ 06 -07 hrs)

After an early rise drive straight to Balipara. Upon arrival at Balipara check in at Wild Mahseer Lodge. Rest of the day free for bunglow activities. Overnight at the Bunglow.


Day 8: BALIPARA – KAZIRANGA (130 kms / 03-4 hrs)

After an early breakfast drive straight to Kaziranga National Park – A World Heritage Site. Afternoon explore the central area of the park on Jeep Safari. Overnight in Kaziranga.


IMP: Kaziranga National Park is closed from 01 May TILL 31 Oct every year.

Day 9: Kaziranga - Shillong (about 295 kms – 06 hrs)

Early wake up to explore the western range of the park by Elephant Safari. After breakfast drive straight to Shillong with enroute stop for lunch at a midway point & also visit the Umiam Lake on the way for taking up photos. Arrive Shillong and transfer to your hotel. Evening free to scroll around the local bazaar. Overnight in Shillong.


Day 10: Shillong

After breakfast visit Elephant Falls and Shillong peak from where you can have a panoramic view of the city Shillong, Wards Lake-a lonely manmade Lake, with meandering footpaths and boating facilities, Lady Hydari Park-a park with a well maintained garden and Catholic Cathedral Church. Later visit famous Police Bazaar to buy local handicraft. Overnight stay at the hotel.


Day 11: Shillong – Cherrapunji – Shillong (about 54 kms/1-2 hrs. one way)

After breakfast go for full day excursion to Cherrapunji (54 kms /01hrs). Visit Mawsmai Falls & Cave, Khasi Monoliths, a beautiful labyrinth of underground passages beneath age-old caves, Nohkalikai Fall and return back to Shillong for overnight stay. Overnight in Shillong.


Day 12: Shillong – Guwahati (about 110 kms – 03 hrs)

After breakfast and drive beck to Guwahati. After lunch visit the Assam State Museum ( closed on Monday), the newly constructed Srimanta Sankaradev Kalakshetra a cultural complex created for the permanent celebration cultural events, festivals etc and the famous Kamakhya & Bhubaneshwari Temple situated atop the Nilachal Hills the ancient shrine of Assam and a seat to Tantric and Shakti cults of Hinduism. Evening free to stroll round the Bazars of the city. Overnight in Guwahati.


Day 13: GUWAHATI – HAJO – GUWAHATI

After breakfast go for a full day excursion to Hajo (24 kms / ½ hrs). Visit the famous temple of Hayagriva Madhava which is regarded by the Buddhist world as one of most holy places connected with the life of the Buddha. They also believe Buddha attained his mahaparinirvana in this part of the Hajo Area. However the most important significance of this temple is that both the Hindus and the Buddhist offer prayer in the temple according to their own rites and customs. You can also visit the near by Hindu Temple of Kedara Siva and Poa-mecca the holy shrine of Muslims stand a top of the Gurudachal hill. Later drive back to Guwahati en-route visit Madan Kamdev - an archaeological site dating back to 10th – 12th century and Sualkuchi Village – the silk centre of Assam. Overnight in Guwahati.


Day 14: GUWAHATI – DELHI / KOLKATA (FLIGHT)

After breakfast at appropriate time transfer to the airport to catch flight for onward destination.


IMP: We can increase a day in Tawang (to visit Tibet/China border) & in Kaziranga (to do full day Jeep Safaries).
